Recife - Pernambuco, Brazil
Founded on 17 February 1919 by Maria do Carmo Lins e Melo in Pernambuco, the Instituto Nossa Senhora do Carmo began as a primary school promoting Christian faith. Over time, it expanded to include teacher training, catechism, and commercial courses. In 1943, Missionary Benedictine Nuns took over, growing the school and adding facilities like a gym and swimming park. Today, it offers kindergarten to university-qualifying education with religious and social programs. Most students are from the lower middle class.
