Mission Statement

Located in the downtown of Rio de Janeiro, the Saint Benedict School (CSB) is one of the most traditional in Brazil. This catholic school was founded by Luí,s da Conceiç,ã,o Saraiva, a monk of the Monastery of Saint Benedict. Since that, CSB has contributed a lot to the intellectual and religious formation of the students. There are 1181 students (men only) from 7 to 18 years old, divided into the 8 grades of Primary/Secondary schools and the 3 grades of Highschool. Besides the basic subjects (Portuguese, Maths, English, Science, History and Geography), the students also have access to other subjects, such as French, Classic Culture, Religion, Philosophy and Art. Since 1993, CSB has been having the best approval rates in the exams to enter the universities in Rio.
