Benedictine educators from across Latin America and the Caribbean met in Envigado, Colombia in May this year for the 5th Benet Lac conference. Benet Lac is a regional meeting of Benedictine schools in South America. This year, the conference ran from the 13th-17th May at Colegio Benedictino de Santa Maria with the theme "United in Community to Face the Educational Challenges of the Present and the Future from a Benedictine Pedagogy". Benet Lac Envigado gathered participants from Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico.

Participants at the conference had moments to pray together and to share good practice and experiences in the light of the Gospel. The conference was an opportunity to discuss the challenges that Benedictine education faces on the continent. Those present were able to grow together and to share ideas about bringing to life the educational wisdom of the Rule of St Benedict.
